Magic Nest

In the forest late at night

I behold a sacred site

A place to rest and guide my sleep

So that I can traverse the deep

A clearing presents faithfully

In the distance streams are bubbly

I notice just the right place where

I will build my magic nest with care

I begin with grasses soft and sweet

They billow right beneath my feet

I carry them to pad the base

And to wrap around and to encase

I reach up to a nearby tree

To gather soft leaves, heavenly

I also see the weeping willow

And with it’s softness I have a pillow

Next I go deeper within

I need to find a special something

A magic feather hides below

The entrance to a secret burrow

The feather gleams with many shades

And sparkles with silver and gray

It represents all of the things

That truly make my heart sing

Within my dreams it will enhance

My love as I go deep into trance

Then I weave some sticks and stems

And tie them with strong grass that bends

From them I drape berries on strings

To help me release all of the things

That have passed their time and are to travel

To where all these things unravel

I hang it on a tree branch above

Next to a friendly night time dove

I notice the forest life draws near

As if it senses the sacred here

And when I look close at the stars

I feel I am as close to Mars

As I could be to anything

I gaze at my nest as I hear my heart sing

Here I am only a child

Here my spirit is always wild

Here is where my child self rests

Deep within the safety of the nest

So her sweet heart may have the sense

That love is always her pre-tense

That safety is around her with care

And that I am not going anywhere

As I climb deep down into my nest

I know it’s time for sacred rest
