Meet Yourself Exactly Where You Are

I have a strong opinion. There is really no such thing as “becoming something new”.

We change by revealing what we already are underneath all of the acculturation, masking, disguising and hiding. We stop filtering ourselves through limited beliefs and perspectives or percentages.

I once studied Vendatic teachings (a branch of Hinduism) at a beautiful temple that truly appeared out of nowhere one day as a friend and I were walking out of a transformational Feldenkrais® class. We shared this class and walked this path often but hadn’t noticed the temple. We both felt drawn.

Mackheylah, my friend, grabbed my hand as we wandered in,. We noticed a statue of Shiva, suddenly replaced by an old monk who told us it was lunch time.

Confused, we sat down for one of the most beautiful meals we had ever eaten. There was less talking and more of a presence, as though the monk and even our own hearts were lighting up the room.

Without words, what could truly be defined? Without words, what couldn’t eyes express? It was all there, truly.

In Vedantic teachings they say: “tat tvam asi” which means “thou art that”. This means you are already what you are looking for. It means that what you are the exact thing you want when you visualize. When you want to expreience love it is because your true nature IS love. When you want success, you ARE that potential. Once you see this truth, the physical world reflects it clearly.

When you want the stress from wanting something you don’t have to completely dissolve, visualize from a place of recognizing what you already are in essence. This literally changes your nervous system. The anxiety about what will or will not work disappears. The desperation dissolves. What stands in your way releases.

Steven Porges’ polyvagyl theory explains that the nervous system has different states: sympathetic activation (fight or flight), parasympathetic shut down (freeze), and ventral vagal activation (engagement and social activation).

In sympathetic activation, we are stressed about not getting what we want. However, when your nervous system experiences feeling safe, abundant and already complete, you are working with the ventral vagal activation.

So, can you resonate with where you are right now- in this body, in this moment, in this presence, in this space, in your lovely nervous system, your incredible heart, your unique abilities, and with all of the parts of you- seen and unseen?

All you need to do is stop broadcasting lack. Instead, say, “I am this”. See how lovingly you can accept this. Say, “it’s okay”, directly to your heart. Then add, “I’m here”. From this place, transformation occurs.

Meeting yourself where you are is lovely because there is nothing else you need to be, nothing you lack, nothing you can’t accept or integrate, and you have space for the rest of the world.

So, meet yourself right here, right now. Even if you have parts you can’t accept, don’t judge it, just meet it. Completely and honestly meet what’s here, right now, and allow your heart to do the rest. I believe in you ❤
